Question : Need to figure out how to get a customized URL for webmail on Google Apps

I have an account with Dreamhost (http://panel.dreamhost.com) and migrated my email to Google Apps. However, now I need to figure out how to get a customized URL for webmail on Google Apps. I'm not very savvy with DNS, so I'm looking for guidance on how to set up my email on Google Apps so that I can type http://mail. instead of http://mail.google.com/a/<mydomain> . Can someone walk me through? Thanks!

Do not use the URL in the DNS unless you plan to fubar your email!! and there is no need for any scripts.

Inside your Apps control panel, go to the MX records instructions found here

After you are done, go here to set up your vanity shortcut
