Question : Simplest way to share files between 2 computers with different OS

hi i am planning to share my 2 computers one computer is a Pentium III running in 98SE and another is a Pentium IV, i have no idea what to do and what should i buy, if possible i want it to be cheap meaning I dont want to buy routers etc. is it possible? I hear of a USB to USB cable is it real?

u have several choices : 1. buy 2 Lan Cards (they r cheap) and also a cross over cable and Install them connect your 2 pcs and setup the network. 2. buy 1 usb to usb cable and connect your pcs and setup the network. 3. buy 1 serial to serial cable and connect your pcs and setup the network 4. buy 1 parallel to parallel port cable and setup the network !
u see ! u have a lot of options ! the difference is the speed of these connections choices no 3 and 4 have very low speed but it depends on what u r gonna do !
I recommend option 1 or 2 ;) dont forget to buy a cross over usb cable too if u r gonna use option 2 ! I hope this helps
