Question : vmware use dual nic?

I have vmware workstation 5.5 (although I'm about to upgrade to 6) and my machine has 2 network cards.

How can I configure things so that the host machine uses one of the nic cards (and only one) and the virtual machines use the other nic card (and only that other one) so that I can plug both nic's into the same subnet but have host-only traffic on one and virtual-machine traffic on the other?

Is that even possible?

Answer : vmware use dual nic?

Hi there gateguard,

You can do this, it's really easy...

In VMware, go to "Edit-->Virtual Network Settings", then choose the "Automatic Bridging" tab, disable this.

You can then choose which adapters you want each VMware NIC to attach to from the "Host Virtual Network Mapping" tab.  I've not got a machine here with 2 NICs so I can't be more specific, but I hope it will be sort of obvious when you're in the right place.

Cheers,
Steve :)
