Question : Not able to ping DNS name of WebServer

My webserver is on the same LAN that I am on and I am not able to ping the DNS name of my webserver:

C:\Documents and Settings\Mike >ping abcchemical.com
Ping request could not find host abcchemical.com. Please check the name and try a
gain.

C:\Documents and Settings\Mike >ping wwww.abcchemical.com
Ping request could not find host wwww.abcchemical.com. Please check the name and
try again.

However I am able to get to the website from the DNS name and the IP address from a web browser.  This DNS issue is affecting me being able to access my VPN server as well and probably some other issues here.

At first I was not able to access the website with the URL name but then I added a New Host (A) record www.abcchemical.com to the DNS server then flushed the dns and registered it and then I was able to get to the website via the browser but I did not solve my pinging issue of the DNS name.

Answer : Not able to ping DNS name of WebServer

Are you running a Windows DNS server? If so you may have to add a host record with a blank host name. The method is similar with Unix DNS servers.
