Do you have Enable Fast Reconnect checked on the clients? (see attached for location in PEAP options.)
The only mention I find of "unsupported CCX version" in Cisco documentation is at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn421120.html#wp325256for CSCsk41891, which concludes "This message is misleading. The actual cause of the message is that the controller cannot find the access point to which the client is associated." but the problem is supposed to be resolved in controller software release 4.2.112.0 (March 2008).
Are you running 4.2.112.0 or newer on your controller[s]?
