Question : Sendmail - Mail sending is slow

From quite some time we are experiencing problem with mail sending.  Sendmail taking 20 seconds to send 1 email.

After anaylsing logs, i could find one unusual log entry:

Also I notice that in the maillog file it shows delays as :

Sep 16 10:14:00 www sendmail[16142]: n8GED0Al016105: to=, delay=00:00:37, xdelay=00:00:37, mailer=esmtp, pri=123817, relay=securemail.abc.org. [], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (OK - Data received)

See delay=00:00:37, xdelay=00:00:37 in above log entry, what does it mean and why such delay occuring.

No more analyses or help need on this.  Problem RESOLVED.

I just cleared the queued mails and restarted sendmail, after restart it started sending mails w/o any delay.  So possibly it was a problem due to large queue.
