Question : quick file transfer

Two PC's and each PC has two NIC's.  PC #1 has all the files and PC #2 needs to get large files from PC #1.  One NIC in each PC is connected to DSL router and I ran a crossover cable from NIC#2 on each PC.  NIC #1 on each PC is setup dynamically.   I was told to setup a static IP on NIC #2 on each PC and and wondering what IP to use on each and what subnet and gateway?

Answer : quick file transfer

Any private subnet will do, such as 192.168.2.10 for the first NIC#2 and 192.168.2.11 for the second NIC #2.  Use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet, to keep it simple, and no gateway, because they'll only have eachother on the crossover cable.  For traffic on that NIC #2 network they'll default to NIC #2 without needing a gateway.
