Question : High Receive Errors & Receive Discards
|
|
I have recently been having problems with HP networked printers stopping printing. On investigation the network is showing large amounts of "Receive Errors" and "Receive Discards".
My questions are:
What could be causing these?
How do I trace them?
How do I stop them?
I will happily supply more information if required.
Many thanks in advance!

Answer : High Receive Errors & Receive Discards

Recieve errors mean that the recieve buffer is full, or an indication of excessive output rates to the port. Recieve discards are frames that the switch had to throw away because of excessive input rates. This counter has a link to the recieve error counter. By the way: Input means coming to the switch port, out of the printer.
