Question : re:  reinstalling wsock32.dll

Yes, I have recently helped a friend who had 12 Trojan horse viruses on his computer.  Unfortunately, all 12 could be detected, but, not cleaned.  So, we had to delete the corrupted files.  Unfortunately, one of these files was wsock32.dll which, I believe, relates to internet functions, was also deleted.  Keeping in mind the importance of this file, I downloaded a good copy of this file, deleted the corrupted wsock32.dll, and copied the fixed wsock32.dll to c:\windows\system.  To my surprise, he can no longer get on the internet.

If there is some way of getting a packet which will help the wscock32.dll reinitialize, this would probably fix this problem.  Anyway, any help regarding this situation will greatly be appreciated.
