Question : Cisco 506 PIX & Linksys WRK54G Wireless Networking?
|
|
I've successfully added the Linksys WRK54G Wireless broadband router into our existing Cisco 506 PIX network as a simple wireless access point for a laptop. I have aquired Internet access for both wire and wireless connections to the linksys, but cannot aquire true intranet access (ie... linksys workstation to Cisco workstation). I may have to configure some static routing within the linksys, but unsure how. The table below is the current configuration of the two routers.
[Cisco 506 PIX - LAN] IP: 10.0.0.1 SB: 255.255.255.0
[Linksys WRK54G - WAN] IP: 10.0.0.10 SB: 255.255.255.0 GT: 10.0.0.1
[Linksys WRK54G - LAN - DHCP] IP: 10.0.0.20 SB: 255.255.255.0 GT: 10.0.0.10

Agreed, your brief description suggests that you are using the Linksys device simply as a 'convertor' to get wireless traffic onto an ethernet LAN regardless of its destination. If that is true, routing is not necessary and the Linksys can operate in simple pass-thru or infrastructure mode.
I would also point out the following review I saw on this route although personally I do notr have experience with it. That said, it might be of interest to you:
STOP!!! Normaly I would neaver give a bad review on Linksys products but the v2.2 of this router has a bug in the firmware that is shipped with the unit. It is fixable buy contacting Linksys and getting them to email you the latest firmware. Large files sent accross wireless on this unit will fail about 50 - 70MB in to the transfer. Great unit when you get it working.
