You fail to mention what OS you're using, but I'm assuming it's some kind of windows since you posted in Microsoft Hardware.
In XP, do Start->Run, msinfo32 [Enter]
expand Components, expand Network, click on Adapter
In the right pane will be listed all the network adapters, along with their 'Index' number.
Before using Registry Editor, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/Open Registry Editor, go to and expand
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentCon
trolSet\Co
ntrol\Clas
s\{4D36E97
2-E325-11C
E-BFC1-080
02bE10318}
All the network adapters are listed there, and the Key number of those entries correspond to the Index numbers listed in msinfo32.
If you want to remove the adapter with index# 3, in Registry Editor right click "0003" in the tree (left pane) and choose Delete.
