Question : Windows SBS 2003 can send email by cant receive
|
|
Hey - hope someone can help!
I have a newly setup Windows SBS 2003 Server - i've created a new user's account using the wizard and setup the correct email address. The problem is no email comes through to this users account. If i try and send from a test email client i get this error:
There was an error sending your message: Failed to add recipient: [email protected] [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 550, response: sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.7.17))]
BUT if i use the wormly.com SMTP Mail server tester (www.wormly.com/test_smtp_server) it all tests fine and the user receives the test email ok.
Port 25 is open on the firewall and telnet testing works fine with the mail server itself as is shown with the mail test above.
Just can't think what else it might be - any ideas?

Did you JUST setup the DNS records? It could take 24-48 hours to propagate around the net before everyone has the records. Looking at your DNS, your serial number shows today's date, so I imagine you're making changes. Your TTL is 300 seconds, which is good when you're making changes to DNS.
Also, looking at your MX records, it appears you have mail directed to the root of your domain (code23.co.uk) which is also where your website points. Is this correct?
Appears this server also answers for code23.co.uk and code23.com - make sure you have the correct recipient policies in place on the server as well if you're receiving mail for both domains.
