Question : Server 2003

I have ran into a some issues I hope someone can help me with.

I am installing a 2003 server with Exchange 2003, wins, DHCP, but have outside DNS.

This is being installed on a NT4 Domain.  There is only one server.  This new server is to replace the old one.
The clients(child) however are 98 systems.  I was able to get the new 2003 server on the network, able to access
the internet however not one of the clients could see the new server.  What do I need to check or
what have I not thought of.

I tried to ping the client with no results, I tried to ping the server from the client with not results.  I am really stumped
at this point.  Please help if you can.

I have checked all the settings to verify the ip address is there, the mask, and the gateway.  However still not luck.

Answer : Server 2003

Hmmm...well, first I would demote the 2003 server if you have not already done so. Have it join the current NT4 domain as a memner server, then promote it to the DC. Next, demote the NT4 server to a BDC, then copy all necessary info from one to the other.
I still need to emphesize that if you plan on using Active Directory, which I assume you will since I see you want to install Exchange 2003 as well, that you MUST set up DNS on the 2003 machine. A properly configured DNS is Mandatory for AD to function correctly.

If I were you, I would also push for updating the win98 clients, but thats another story.

Hope this helps
