Question : Windows XP client on Netware 3.12 server

I am having trouble with Windows XP connection to an old Novell 3.12 server.  Primary server is Windows 2000 but I still need to access this server for historical data.

Machine in question is a Dell Optiplex GX-270 @ 2.6GHz
- Windows XP Pro Sp1
- 512MB RAM

I have downloaded and installed the Novell Client 4.90 SP1a.
- installed as IP ONLY
- specified frame type as 802.3
- set network name to match server
- bindery login only

I can logon including running login script.  However, when I go to Windows Explorer to access directories I will be able to get to some of them for a few seconds (15-20) and then "network name not found" error occurs.  At this time I can't see any Novell resources.  I can't even get to the directories that I could earlier.   All Novell resources are unavailable until I reboot again.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Answer : Windows XP client on Netware 3.12 server

Install NWFS.SYS from 49psp1a_nwfs.exe

It solves your problem, namely the following:
"3. Client drops connection to server while browsing volume. See TID 10089964 (357723)"

More:

yes, it is broken in SP1A too.

download:

Not necessary, but you might also want to install updated nwgina too.

or you can backrev to older client...
