Question : Can't get Google SMTP to work

Hello, I can't get send mail via Google SMTP. Thunderbird says "google smtp failed." I am using hotel wireless. Can you recommend another port or some other solution? I'd like to get some work done without having to go to web mail. thank you in advance. Also including pic of SMTP setup in Thunderbird. I am using Google IMAP. SMTP set to port 583. Using port 2525 didn't work either.

The usual port for mail submission is 587 - I guess google uses that as well
