Question : Multiple Applications

Hi, I can't open multiple applications at the same time.
I am a web designer, and i need to open photoshop, dremweaver, flash, ie, messenger, etc...
at the same time. after i open 2 or three applications, under windows xp sp3, and i try to open an additional app., the application won't start unless i close one of the running apps.
