Question : Change default IP in XP Internet Connection Sharing
|
|
Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a peer-to-peer wifi network between a desktop PC and a laptop. The PC is on a wired LAN with internet access via a router, and a modem whose IP is hard-wired to 192.168.0.1 (the actual subnet for the router and PCs is 192.168.1.0 though).
The goal is to make the wired network shares available to the wireless network, which is a 192.168.2.0 subnet. I've used ICS for this type of job before, but in this case the two factors of the modem and the wireless subnet make it impossible.
I reason that it should be easy enough to do this with 'route add...' but not sure how to use this command. I don't see how one determines which interface number (the IF argument) should be 'shared-to', or how to determine the correct metric (whatever that is).
Please can someone tell me the correct command syntax to use, and if there's anything additional I need to do to enable NAT?
