i have a cisco 3550 that i inherited any time i try to access it , I get the message password required but not set. please tell me how i can access my cisco 3550

Answer : password required but not set

You have to connect with the console cable (serial interface) and set the password before you can access it via network (telnet). You should have received the console cable when you got the Cisco.

Then you have to set the "login" and "password" command for the "line vty 0 4" interface.
