Question : Asterisk 1.4 and 1.6 working together

Say, using Trixbox on 2 servers each with a 1.4 and a 1.6 asterisk version respectively.
I'm trying to create a IAX2 trunk between them.
Have two trunks with identical settings but different hosts.
iax2 show registry indicates request sent but no registration takes place or fails. Please help!

Are you completely sure this is an issue with versions and is not simply an IAX config issue? IAX requires a "type=peer" on one server and a corresponding "type=user" on the other. You describe identical settings on each.
