Question : how to set up wap-over-gprs connection on palm
|
|
My mobile phone operator provides me with a _wap-over-gprs_ (not internet-over-gprs) service and thus I can only browse wap pages. On the phone (nokia 8310) everything works well, however when i try to set up a connection on palm I run into problem: all guides which I've found on internet tells the same story - how to create a internet-over-gprs connection.
Can nokia8310 work as a modem in this case? Do you have any ideas, how to set up a _wap-over-gprs_ connection on my palm (OS 4.1) and to be able to access only wap content?

There's no difference....
Well not from an IP or GPRS stand point anyway WAP is an application protocol which can run over a number of different transport providers including IP via GPRS.
So follow the instructions for setting up an internet over GPRS session, make sure you set the WAP APN in +CGDCONT, establish a dial up (PPP) session on the palm you can do that like this:-
Configure Connection method
Prefs -> Connections -> GPRS -> Edit Name: GPRS Connect To -> GPRS Click on Details. Access Point Name (APN): Enter your APN Leave everything else the default, Press OK. It will prompt for a name, enter any name (Eg Vodafone).
Configure Network Service Prefs -> Network Service -> New Service -> Enter any Name (Note : I normally use the same name given to the GPRS connectionto avoid confusion) Enter User Name and Password Connection -> Select Vodafone or what ever name you have given the GPRS connection.
The next thing you'll need is a WAP browser for your palm and you're away...
