Question : InterTel AXXESS and Asterisk

I have an Intertel AXXESS telephone system with a T1 line card.  I also have a Trixbox with a Sangoma A101D T1 line card.  I am trying to interconnect the two systems.  Is there ANYONE out there who has any experience with this?

The information that I am getting from the local Intertel service provider is that the AXXESS system cannot connect to the sangoma card with T1 or PRI?  This does not sound right to me&how can the AXXESS system connect to the CO but not to another system?

What the Intertel Tech is telling me is that the first 12 circuits of the sangoma need to be Loop Start and the last 12 OPX (essentially 12 analog lines???).  But the sangoma support tech doesnt know what OPX is (off premise extension according to Intertel) so I am at a road block.

I would rather interconnect them using IP, has anyone ever done this either??

HELP!!!

Answer : InterTel AXXESS and Asterisk

I had a similar issue with a Toshiba IP PBX that I was told I had to buy expensive card to make it work with my CME or Asterisk box.  I just create a couple of sip extension on the Toshiba PBX and had my asterisk box connect to those extension.  Create call route for calls to be routed using those connection when calling extension numbers on my Toshiba.  You will need to educate yourself about that InterTel PBX. Once you know how to create a SIP entension or a SIP trunk you are set. Create the SIP truck, then create the cal route.

No need to mess with T1 or PRI connectors.  There a PRI technology called QSig you can use to connect 2 devices suing T1 technology, but I would not recommend it.  Stick with IP (SIP or H323).

Good luck.
