Question : DNS issue with XP workstations

strange issue I'm having where I can't communicated with six new XP workstations.  They all have IP addresses but I can't ping them form my workstation.  I tried flushing the dns cache on my workstation and the dns server.  Delted the workstations form DNS.  I'm not sure what elese to try.
