Question : Bios problem

Hi everyone,
I have a hp laptop here which is missing the hard drive and cd rom information in bios. Also it doesn't see any hd in windows or drivers in device manager. I once was able to boot into knoppix but not again. I suspect the drive is fine.  what could be the cause of this?

Short of a hardware problem, I have not run across a BIOS error that would not see valid hard drives or valid CD's. If otherwise you can run, you can try deleting the CD ROM (uninstalling) then restarting and see if it will find the drivers. ... Thinkpads_User
