Question : On boot, network drives not initialized for Windows Workgroup
|
|
I've asked this in the past, never been able to get an answer...
Ok, so I have 3 network drives on a Windows Workgroup. On boot, they are "unavailable". Net Stat shows the resources defined, but not available. MS DOS CHdir, or any use of these drives by an application results in a Windows file error.
HOWEVER, if you open the file manager, and select each drive individually, they then all become available, some times an error appears momentarily though, sometimes not. Sometimes, Windows boots and the drives *are* available.
There are no username/passwords required for this workgroup. This problem occurs on all pc's, all of which are members of the Workgroup.
How can I get Windows to initialize the network drives properly on boot?

Here's something else you can try.
Start > Run > gpedit.msc
go to
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon double-click on the key for "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" and set it to enabled.
See if that helps.
