Question : Domain controller causes excessive traffic
|
|
I have a remote network at a local datacenter that houses all of my client's applications. I connect to this Windows 2003 nextwork via a site-to-site VPN. Without fail, when I bring an additional Windows 2003 Domain Contoller up here at home, it causes so much excessive traffic over the VPN that my firewall gets bogged-down. So I have 2 questions:
a) Is there supposed to be so much traffic between domain controllers? b) How can I limit this traffic (like controlling replication on an Exchange server)?
Thanks!

Double check your AD Sites and Services. If the only site there is still the default then create a new one. Associate each with a subnet then let AD's replication defaults take over. If the defaults don't do the trick you can then tweak them in AD Sites and Settings.
