Question : DNS Forwarder
|
|
Hello,
I try to forward a domain for example 'mysubdomain.mydomain.org' to a forwarder IP address using Windows 2003 server.
I have entered DNS domain and added IP addresses to forwarder IP address list. But when I hit apply I get this error message:
The server forwarders cannot be updated. The zone already exists.
The domain I am trying to forward from is in Forward Lookup Zones on the same DNS server.
Thanks.

Then you would first have to delete existing zone. I would recommend that you avoid using conditional forwaders and try using stub zones. Stub zone will copy SOA, NS and A glue host records for nameservers. Even if IPs of nameservers change with stub zone everything will continue to work, with conditional forwarding you will have to change IP numbers.
