Question : Mobile Broadband Cards

I am going to purchase a mobile broadband card from either Cingular or Sprint.  However, I am unable to find any solid reviews done and/or first-hand experience from existing users.  I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I do not believe that EVDO Rev-A is available here yet.  However, we do have 3G.  Both companies are requiring me to sign a 2-year contract, so I would like to make sure I pick the right device and corresponding service, from the start.  I am awarding the maximum number of points for this question because I would like a well thought out and researched answer.  An added bonus would be a comparison of each card Cingular and Sprint currently carry.

Thanks in Advance.

Answer : Mobile Broadband Cards

I'm not sure about net access via mobile; however -- if I am not mistaken, cell phone companies must offer services free of timed contract (hence, most use phone discounts for entering contracts). You'll notice the "teaser" prices are "$50 for 2-year contract; $99 for 1 year contract; $300 for phone".

 If you are persistent -- it might payoff. Worst they can say is "no -- you need contract".
... ask the company directly "What would the price for service be, if I do NOT wish to enter into a __ year contract?"
... Specify you are worried about weak signals in your locations, etc. You might even try a "30 day evaluation" (work with their support on any issues, if they are unable to solve -- no penalty beyond normal monthly fee.

When I first bought Verizon, they extended the 15-day cancellation to 45, provided I work with Support Engineers to solve the extremely weak signals (they couldn't, and they honored the extra time when I cancelled).

---> to reviews:

... More reviews are turning up for Sprint than Cingular (anyone else seeing this)?
