Question : 'No Association with Access point' message with Linksys
|
|
Grr, I getthis message using a linksys wireless broad band router and 2 linksys PCI adapters (the latest with speed booster) and a range extender. Its since I installed linksys's util (I did this as the windows zero thing could'nt connect all the time) I also did this as its the only way to check the range extender. The linksys utils see the signal, but when I press the connect to base unit it says 'No Association with Access point' if I try and connect to the range extender then it does but says there is no internet connection. so I suspect the range extender and the PCI adapters cannot connect to the base router. the windows zero thing is disable to let the linksys one work. but the linksys utility doesn't work and guess what? the linksys site hasn't got this error message, yet I've seen on at least 5 sites, with no real answer. can someone help? thanks,

Try enabling Broadcast SSID on the Router. Restart the laptop and then go into profile tab and connect through there. Dont mind the no association message in the middle tab of ur linksys utility. If you still cannot connect then proceed to below.
Try taking the range extenter out of the picture for the time being. Use only one computer to establish a connection. I recently ran across this situation with a linksys WRT54GS 1.1. First thing I did was eliminate all security settings. Then I updated the firmware. I believe that the association error was from implementing the mac restriction access or not Broadcasting SSID. Once I did all this I then deleted the previous profile on the laptop linksys utility, I then turned off the laptop. I turned on the Router then turned on the laptop. I went into the linksys utility on the laptop and connected to the Router. I connected by going into the profile tab and connected to the Router. I then setup WEP on Router then laptop. Connection was good. Then I setup additional security settings one by one and tested connection after applying each individually. I ended up able to establish a solid connection through the Profile tab in the linksys utility even though it would tell me that no association with the router in the linksys utility.
I believe the no association is due to Broadcasting being Disabled even though I was able to connect to the Net but still recieved this message.
