Question : dameware mini remote control configuration problem

I have two computers connected thorugh TCP IP using Ethernet cables on a router.

Computer 1 (master) runs Windows XP Pro
Computer 2 (slave) runs Windows 2000 Pro

I am trying to remotely control the slave computer from the master computer, but can't even get through the first step of establishing a connection.  I looked at the help files, but there isn't much information in there.

Could someone help me configuring the two computers?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Serge

Answer : dameware mini remote control configuration problem

Try a few things to get some information
Try some other programs to see if the problem is dameware or something on the computer itself.
For instance:
- winvnc
- radmin
- The built in one in XP. (Forgot the name and am behind an NT machine now. Look in start/programs/accessories/ it's on one of the subfolders.)

If neither of those programs work the problem is prolly on the puter itself.
Like said above:
- disable the firewall (even the built in one in XP) and try again
- disable the AV and try again

If you still get no result try to establish any connection between the two computers to see if a certain kind of connection is blocked (certain ports). It might be the router you use that blocks a port dameware uses (6129/TCP).

And if neither of this helps I'm at a loss.
