Question : Kerberos Event ID 4
We keep getting error message on a newly built Windows Server 2003. This is going to be used as a Terminal Server. Please help!
Event Type: Error Event Source: Kerberos Event Category: None Event ID: 4 Date: 11/9/2006 Time: 1:48:54 PM User: N/A Computer: TSOFFICE2 Description: The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/sputility.corp.surepower.com. The target name used was cifs/XPNEW4.corp.surepower.com. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (CORP.SUREPOWER.COM), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator.

To force the change for pc1 and pc2, go to the machines and type in ipconfig /registerdns, then the DNS name will be newly registered with the DNS server... Beware of the fact thet all other machines will have a local DNS resolvance table and maybe you will need to refresh their DNS table by typing in the command ipconfig /flushdns.. This normally should do the trick..
