Question : Restoring a file in Novell netware

we have a file that was deleted in novell netware server 5.1 and we need to restore it.

I am not familiar with novell netware, but heard that there is a utility FILER included with novell that can restore files deleted.

can you help me through it . I run it but don't know how to restore the deleted files, I don't even know how to search for the deleted file.

any help??

Answer : Restoring a file in Novell netware

If you are using the Novell 32 bit client, you should have a red 'N' in the system tray, in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.  Right-click on it, then choose "Netware utilties", then "Salvage".  From there, navigate to the server / volume where the deleted file resides, and you should find it and be able to salvage ("un-delete") the file.

IIRC, with NetWare 5.1, you can also open a command (DOS) prompt, and runt the FILER program (type FILER, hit enter).  Navigate through your server until you find the missing file, and salvage it.
