Question : DLink VPN Client will connect to the DLink DI-808HV Router (in IPSec mode) but will not pass any data.

Hi there
The problem that I have is that I am trying to configure my friends computer to connect to her office network. The office network uses a DLink DI-808HV router (it's a fairly small office) and this router successfully transmits data on the other VPN networks that have been set up (all using the DLink DS-601 Client software).
In this case I installed the software on my friends computer, and then appropriately configured it. The connection forwards through beautifully and it definitely forms the VPN; however no data will traverse the tunnel. When I attempt to 'ping' down the tunnel I get no response (attempting to ping the router at the other end) and when I do a tracert on the router, I also get virtually no response. That is, the trace shows the data leaving the computer I am on and heading out to the office's ISP's system, then drops out.
I think that the problem lies in the Siemens Speedstream 4200 modem that lies between my friends computer and the Internet, but attempting to port forward, etc hasn't helped. I am at my wits end! Does anyone have any suggestions about how this can be rectified?
Cheers, Shane

Actually maybe try the Firewall in medium security mode. It might enable it as part of the functionality.
Also found a very thorough guide for setting up the D-link router and remote client if you have any doubts about the configuration.
