Question : Altiris Deployment Server/PXE Server remote to site
|
|
Here is what i have and what i want to do. I have a site that has a connection into us via a t1, i want to be able to clone a thin client at the site and roll the image out to others at the site. My proble is my thin clients do not see the PXE server at our main site. They all get their DHCP addresses from the router at their end. Do i have to open up some ports or something between these two sites? or how can i get the clients to see the PXE server. I just had altiris support on the phone and they said the clients could not see the PXE server and i needed to do something like iphelper to make it work. I am not aware of a iphelper option for PXE. Can someone help me with this please.

What you want is a remote PXE server and image store. You dont really want to image thin clients over a WAN.
So in effect a "Remote Deployment Server". There is plenty of doco on the Altiris Site. You can install the remote deployment server on an ordinairy PC. The management of the devices is still carried out at the main managment console.
hope this helps
Cheers
Steve
