Question : Network connection keeps dropping out
Hello,
I have a client, law firm, with around 10 computers with the normal lawyer software, Dictation, Lotus Organiser, Law Accounting Software, etc... but a couple of the workstations the network connection just drops at various times throughout the day. I have changed the Speed on the network card settings from Auto-Detect to 100mbps as I saw was one thing that could cause the problem, also messed around with the Flow Control as someone else mentioned. I have also resorted to changing the network card (adding a network card as the initial one was onboard) but to no avail.
The shared files are on a NAS drive which all of the computers map to and access but like I say the other 8 or so computer do the same jobs and access the same type of files but don't have any of these problems.
All computers are XP Pro SP3.
Could anyone shed some light onto this very annoying situation?
Thanks,
Gareth

ghopkins66,
Yes it could have faulty memory that is corrupting its own switching tables or faulty ports that are not transmitting properly.
