Question : What is the best LAN Messenger that allows users to be in multiple groups?

We are in need of a LAN messenger and have been unable to find one that incorporates all of our needs...
-Secure (communications remain within our network)
-Group Chat (minimum one chat room)
-User Groups (to easily send a single message to multiple recipients)
---Users can be in multiple groups (this is key)
The program could be server or p2p.
