Question : DHCP over VPN with SonicWall TZ170
|
|
I have a SonicWall TZ170 Firewall protecting my Windows 2003 network. I can setup a VPN connection to the SonicWall, but I get 223.x.x.x address and no DNS server entries. My network has a windows 2003 DHCP server setup, but I would like to use the router to give addresses to the VPN clients so that they can be on a different subnet and provide extra security. Can anyone tell me how to configure this on my SonicWall?

Sorry about the delay in my response
You might be able to setup an address pool on the sonicwall that would serve VPN clients and then setup a route on the sonicwall to go to the Lan, but i dont think this would be any more secure as potential hackers would be able to access your lan anyway.
The only way in which users can obtain a virtual ip address is to use your pre-shared secret and authenticate using a username and password.
So i think that this would be secure enough as long as you use a good pre-shared key and Passwords.
