Question : Controlling Mappoint (or other software) from my MS Access database application...

Here's what my software needs to be capable of doing:

Calculate mileage and estimated travel time to a given address
Detect when the driver has stopped or started to move after being stopped
Send an address to mapping software so that that software and locate the map, show it on the screen, generate a route, and start GPS tracking


Is this all going to be possible? It seems I need to ask the mapping software for some information, but I also need to control the mapping software from my application. I could use the GPS reciever to detect when the user is stopped etc, but when my app. uses that com port it won't be available for the mapping software.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if there is a a more "simple" solution out there (Microsoft MapPoint?)
