Question : Motorola 6430 Router password recovery/router reset question
|
|
I will be impressed if anyone knows how to do this ...
I have a Motorola 6430 that a customer wants me to configure. I do a lot of work, and normally I have the password for full managment priviledges. Well, someone came behind and set up a different management password and now I cannot do any configuring. I've talked with the customer and he has no idea what the password is.
My question: Does anyone know how to recover a password on a Motorola 6400 router? Another thing that would probably work is if I could reset the router to factory defaults.
Any help is much appreciated.

I vaguely remeber the Vanguard series - I hate that POS ... anyway I'm not sure if the password is stored 'clear text' - if it is; ask customer to see if he saved a backup of the config - while the backup may not be readable via ascii text editor; you may try loading it on another vanguard and take a peep at the config (that is if you can keep from reloading - else you would be stuck with two vanguards that you are locked out of - heheh) Anyway; most likely your answer will come after you fork over some $$$ (unless you maintanice agreement) to the Vanguard division (formerly Motorola) who will dial-in and reset password. This is due to (if my information I gathered off a serach on google) the password being stored in a special PROM, that does not get deleted even when flash and config memory is erased.
Either way - Please post back what you find; as I'm curious as hell myself.
