Question : You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network.
I create an A record in DNS with a second hostname pointing to the first hostname's IP address and I can ping the recrd but can't net use or DIR it. If I create a CNAME with the same objective but pointing to the first host A record instead of IP address, I get nothing, I can't ping it (Ping request could not find host) but if I net use it, after 20 - 30 seconds it will ask for a login that turns out to be nothing. Everything I read about CNAME says it should work just fine and I don't see any other way of doing such a simple task. Any Ideas other then DFS would be great...
