Question : Not enough server storage to process this command
|
|
All systems: Windows XP Pro SP2; Peer-to-Peer networking; Tried with Simple File Sharing Enabled and with Advanced File Sharing. No software firewall. Windows firewall disabled. IPX/NETBIOS installed in attempts to rectify problem.
I get the message access denied... you may not have permission... followed by "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" when trying to access shares on either of my desktop computers either from one computer to the next or even on the computer the shares are on through My Network Places. In other words I can't get to network shares on computer "A" from computer "A" itself ("My Network Places") or from computer "B" or "C". I can see all the computers and their shares no problem (In My Network Places). When I try to access the shares on computers "A" or "B" I get that message. I've increased the IRPStackSize in both computers to no avail. I've tried Simple and Advanced file sharing. Same problem either way. I've even tried performing a repair install of the operating system. That seemed to work once but the problem returned and a 2nd repair install didn't correct the problem. Odly enough, I don't have the same problem w/ computer "C" shares. I can get to its shares fine from computers "A" and "B" (using Simple File Sharing).
I'd like to know too how to delete entries in My Network Places that are no longer really on the network but continue to show up in My Network Places. I often find I can't delete them and worry that they may be causing mischief w/ my networking by being there. E.g. Computers, workgroups, and network shares that are no longer on the network but still show up in My Network Places.
I sure would be happy for your input. I'm hoping I've posted in the right place. I'm not sure if this shouldn't have been posted in the Windows NT networking area.
Thank you in advance BJ

Answer : Not enough server storage to process this command

I have just had the same problem on a three way wireless XP network. IRPStack size didn't seem to help, hough I increased it to %) in the interim.. what did seem to solve it was the removal of anti-virus software and the use of the WinsockXPFix.exe file available from M$. The anti-virus software was then reinstalled and the IRPStack size reset to 20.
