Question : HP ProCurve 4000M and HP ProCurve J4115B 100/1000T module

Hi;

I have a HP ProCurve 4000M network switch with a ProCurve 100/1000T (J4115B) module installed on the same box.  I want connect this 100/1000T module to my another HP ProCurve 2824 Gigabit switch howerver it does not work.  It looks like, J4115B runs on 100 speed only.  I go to the management page of 4000M switch and under the port configuration page, I found that I can configure this module with the following options only 100HDx, 100FDx, or Auto mode only.

I also found that it J4115B in Auto mode, it cannot be connected with HP ProCurve 2824.  However if I set it to 100FDx, it can communicate with HP ProCurve 2824 in 100 speed.

I want to build a giga-speed backbone, how can I make it work?

If you are running c.09.28 and are unable to set it to 1000 you probably have a bad module.
