Question : Block AOL Instant Messenger on Sonicwall Firewall

Good Morning, we would like to block AOL messenger from our network, we got Sonicwall Firewall and I have added login.oscar.aol.com 205.188.3.176, 205.188.5.204, 205.188.5.208, 205.188.7.164, 205.188.7.168, 205.188.7.172 205.188.7.176, and 205.188.3.160 in the blocked domains but people could still login to their AOL instant messenger. Can someone please help me with this problem? Thank you very much in advance.

You'll need to add an explicit DENY on the outbound rules to block the following ports

AOL - Block 5190-5193
AOL IM - Block 5190

This will block local installs of IM from communicating outside.  

This will not stop people from accessing the aol website or from using an outside proxy to communicate.  

My 2 cents is to block all outbound and then allow port 80, 443, 21, 22, 25, 110 etc...  for outbound traffic.  Just a thought to consider.....
