Question : how far can i run a cat5 without attenuation??

i am currently in the process of wiring my home for a home network...what i'm wondering is exactly how far can i run a cat5 cable without a switch or something to speed things along....the longest distance i will b running is roughly 50 ft....will that slow down data transfer at all??

pay a few more cents and get the 5e (enhanced) cable. The max for CAT-5 should be 328 feet, but I have seen distances of 340 and 350 feet work just fine. the 328 is just a recommendation, nothing in stone that says it will not work above that length.
+depends on how both ends of the cable are crimped (don't unravel the pairs any more than you have to and use the T568-B standard.
