Question : BIND - NOTIFY - NS and A Field

Does anybody know what the A means in the DNS notification message next to the NS?

Sent NOTIFY for "xxxxxx. com IN SOA 200312341" (xxxxxxx.com); 2 NS, 2 A

I would guess that this is "TWO nameservers, BOTH authoritative".  I'd guess you would get a different result if some of the results came from a cache.
