Question : Backing up a UNIX box on an XP machine
Hello there :)
I have a Unix box with no USB ports.
I have an XP machine with USB ports and the Unix box as a mapped drive.
I tried to use XCOPY to copy the contents of the Unix box to the USB key and whilst it does some of the files, it does miss out a lot of them.
I had a look at chronjob but it scared the pants off me (As much as I'd love to be, not a UNIX person!) so I'm npot sure how to proceed, I know that you can get UNIX to "tar" a copy of itself, and then I could move that to the USB key but not sure how...
Over to the brainy people :)
Thank you for any help you can give,
Haze
Answer : Backing up a UNIX box on an XP machine
well, put the tar file under say /mybackup dir (you may create it as an empty dir) and exclude it from backup then transfer the file to windows
