Question : smtp service will not start

I have installed smtp service on a windows 2003 R2 sp2 server. smtp service will not start in a timely fashion.

any ideas what is wrong or how to fix it?

Need  the server ASAP.

Answer : smtp service will not start

is there anything else currently using port 25?

run netstat -anp tcp

also try telnet localhost 25.

if you get response you need to kill the app using port 25.
