IP addresses work on what is called a lease from the DHCP server. So if your sitting in a LAN (connected with wire) and get 10.0.0.6 then move over to wifi you will get a different IP lets say (10.0.0.9).
If you make these same moves every day chances are you will get the same IP addresses. This depends on alot of variables:
1) How many people are on the LAN/WIFI connection (or subnet)
2) The size of the subnet and amount of IP addresses
3) The length of the lease times set in DHCP
But yes, WiFi should get connected automatically when in range. Whether on not they will get he same IP as last time they connected depends on the above information. Also they will not get he same IP address on the LAN as they do on WiFi as they are two separate interfaces on the machine.
