Question : "Stop: c00000221 (Bad Image Checksum)

Personal laptop - Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop - booted up the other day and gave me the following error message:
"Stop: c00000221 (Bad Image Checksum)
The image MSASN1.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum."

The message was on kind of a scary, blue, frozen screen. Do you know of any way to fix this problem?

Answer : "Stop: c00000221 (Bad Image Checksum)

Basically your MSASN1.dll file ha become corrupted.

I take it your using Window XP?
If so do you happen to have a Window XP cd?
If you do put it in your laptop and boot from the CD. You will be prompted to enter recovery console option.

Once at the recovery console you will need to rename the MSASN1.dll file, and replace it with a working MSASN1.dll file from another source or the Window XP cd.
Once it replaced, reboot and it should be fixed.

If you need more indepth instructions on uing the recovery console reply and i'll provide more indepth instruction.

Thank and Goodluck
