Question : XP Home Cannot Access XP Pro file share :(
|
|
XP networking ...not making me happy right now.
I have a small home office network. I desperately need my xp home box to be able to access my xp pro file shares but I cannot get it to work. Permission denied every time.
Very simple setup ============================== - 2 pcs (1 XP Home, 1 XP Pro) connected to a Linksys router which allows the systems to share the cable connection. Very simple.
- Both systems on internal IP addresses 192.168's and both systems are in the same workgroup.
From either computer you can see the other system in "My network places". The xp pro box can access anything on the xp home system..just the xp home system cannot access the xp pro file shares.
I had advanced file sharing on my xp pro machine turned on and I couldn't get the xp home box to connect so I turned it off and turned back on simple file sharing to see if I could get the xp home box to connect.
It still doesn't work.
Both machines have a user enabled named "Heather". The same user exists on both machines with the same password. The guest account is now turned on on both machines.
Does anyone have any idea how i can get this to work. It is worth a lot of points to the person who can solve this for me.

Add the guest to NTFS Security on the C:\ , by default Guest accounts don't have access. At that point once you add the guest you should have access.
