Question : Install two network cards on a PC for broadband sharing.

Hi everyone,

I attempt to setup internet connection sharing at minimum cost.
I have a desktop computer and a notebook.

The desktop computer which is running Windows 98 has the following hardware attached:
1.) one ADSL modem (Aztech DSL305E)
     IP address: 192.168.0.2

2.) Built-in network adapter.
     IP address: 192.168.0.3
     Gateway: 192.168.0.2
     DNS: 202.188.0.133/ 202.188.1.5

3.) one PCI network card.
     IP address: 192.168.0.7
     Gateway: 192.168.0.2
     DNS: 202.188.0.133/ 202.188.1.5

Before I hook up my notebook with my desktop computer, I test out the PCI network card by connecting the cable with the ADSL modem on my desktop computer.
When I ping the ADSL modem, the results show REQUEST TIMED OUT.  There is no reply from the modem.

So, I plug out the cable from the PCI network card and plug into the built-in network adapter.  I ping the ADSL modem and  got replies from it.

May I know why my PCI network card could not connect to internet via the ADSL modem (with the present of built-in network adapter)?
Is there any wrong with my setup?

Would you please advise what is the proper to bring up the Internet Connection sharing with the devices above?

Thank you very much.

Answer : Install two network cards on a PC for broadband sharing.

You want to install ICS, wingate or some other utility that will provide for the routing and DHCP services you need:
